Just on Youtube and come across A.Nannini. Got me thinking about how good he could have been if it wasn't for his accident. I remember thinking back in the day that he had the talent but we never found out.
How do you lot think he would have faired if he was able to carry on?

Vettel reminds me Nannini exactly. Or rather, if Vettel would've been racing in the 80's/90's, his stage character was Nannini ((NB: character/style, not speed/talent. If Hamilton is Senna, Button is Prost, Alonso is Piquet etc.)
Fast, but error-prone, especially when put under a bit of pressure, a poor overtaker and racer. Hunt didn't seem to have a great deal of respect for him, though of course his career was cut short. I just couldn't imagine James liking Vettel much either.

Not to detract from a great driver but the record only stands because top level racing stopped at the ring shortly after, as well as the track layout changing altogether. I am sure plenty of group C/LMP cars would have gone a lot quicker since had that not been the case.his 'ring record still stands to this day 27 years later.

It was awful that Nannini's F1 career ended so early, particularly as the Benetton was becoming a top car...
However, I always reckoned that he was one of those drivers that could be a regular front runner, but not a champion. I'm thinking more Fisichella/Trulli than Alonso.
However, if he had not had his accident and stayed at Benetton for 1991, rather than Moreno, would Flav have booted him out to snatch Schumacher from Jordan? We could have seen Nannini in at Benetton for 92, and Schumacher committed to a year in the awful Jordan Yamaha.....
