I got a few panels on my car resprayed this week - bonnet, bumper, bootlid on a black pearlescent Skoda.

Got the car back on thursday all shiny fresh from the bodyshop and machine polished. Some bird crapped on the bonnet and boot on friday. I washed it today and can still clearly see the marks from the birdcrap even though it has washed off.

Any ideas how I can fix it? tried a bit of SRP, but the marks are still visible. Am I going to have to go back to the bodyshop for a respray again, or will they polish out? Any recommendation or suggestion welcome.

It may be a little difficult in this cold weather but my first step would be to warm the panel with a hair dryer then with some clay (keep it warm in a bucket of hot water, clay the area where the bird lime has market the paint.

Lubricate the paint, clay the area gently, wash the paint, hand polish.....with a decent polish and the seal, and wax.

If the bird lime outline is still there you may need to call a detailer with a DA polisher or a rotary to remove any remains. It is not expensive and may well be the best option.

Wash it off then, before attacking the new paint with anything, speak to the bodyshop that did the respray for their advice.
