thrilling sunday morning drive
Discussion
Had a 2 hour roof off hoon early this morning "to get the sunday paper" Has been a while that I have been out when it's so quiet. Over the south downs out to Petworth. Car was a star, everthing feeling so right and just set up so well with the Nitrons it's a complete joy to drive!
I just love that feeling when my driving all comes together, being totally absorbed in the experience; feeling snug and low down yet very much a part of the outside world. Hands constantly attached to the wheel, sensitive and alert to how it's moving and reacting to the surface of the road beneath, elbows perfectly resting, eyes always scanning the road ahead...like some computer downloading and processing every last bit of information I can take in.
Those amazing V8 sounds dominanting, a constant reminder of my influence on the car and the speed I am going. How the sound changes depending on throttle opening and speed, making itself heard both seperately from the engine and the exhaust before melding together in glorious symphony.
Then perfectly setting up the balance of the car going into and then through a bend, before powering out; The non pas steering weighting up nicely with a surprising amount of feel, absorbing how the car is moving beneath me and what it might do if I am not respectful of that lovely progressive throttle. Then on seeing the bend opening up, my commitment and joy of being able to sink the pedal, feel the power and momentarily (as if time is slowing down just for me) really savour the experience...before bringing my attention fully back to the road and what unique TVR delights are coming next.
Hmm I wasn't planning on being so, shall we say, poetic but it was very satisfying translating what I and many others I imagine feel!
It is what has been called a state of flow, when you are completely present in an experience, whilst also being motivated to learn and improve from it, with your senses heightened, feeling highly energised and alive. Apparently a boost to your immune system. It's official; driving a TVR is healthy and may even lengthen your life!
Hope others are getting out and enjoying the sunny weather.
I'm off for a nap!

Same thing here.
Took it out yesterday after not driving it for over 2 months. I always have to get used to the car again after such a long pause, the first few miles it feels a bit nervous and it trembles all over the place and you think "hmmm, don't like this". But then after 15 min. or so everything is warmed up and the car transforms: chassis is smooth and yet firm, engine sounds outrageous and it goes like a bat out of hell! The handling with the Nitrons is just superb, even over some rougher roads and my god I forgot how fast it is. I'm still thinking about a 4.3/4.5 upgrade but in reality I think I didn't even use 75% of the power. And then the usual public with their jaws dropping to the pavement.
Hurray TVR!
