Had an accident in the Cerb yesterday; Joining the motorway from a sliproad, accelerating gently and the car unexpectedly snapped sideways to the left and then again to the right as I tried to correct it. This resulted in me skidding sideways across the motorway, clipping one of the cars on the main carriageway and then colliding head-on with the central reservation.

Luckily nobody was hurt, but it could have been so much worse and I feel awful for frightening the people in the car that I hit. The chap driving said he saw me on the sliproad ahead, then saw some mud fly-up from one of my back wheels which started to spin and then the car just snapped......

Just awaiting the verdict on the car from the insurance company now.

It's still seriously slippy out there so no room for complacency

From what we saw in the wing mirrors it looked like a Prius you collected. If so at least something good came out of it.

It looked a lot worse when I saw it in the wing mirror, I really feared for you. Thankfully everyone was fine and I'm glad you're okay, twisted metal can be fixed.
Shame it had to happen on that particular trip though.

I think passers by will remember the site of santa running up the hard shoulder more than the crash though!

You know Matt it wouldn't have been too bad if there had been a hard shoulder, rather than that little strip of muddy tarmac!
At least you didn't drive away in my car, you passed the test.

Hope the OP gets the car sorted without too much grief, it was bloody good of him to make the trip.

Hope everything gets sorted without too much hassle for you. At least we got it back to the relative saftey of the hard shoulder nice and quick. So unfair when you were out in it for such a good cause. And yes it is very slippery out there at the moment

My heart sank when I joined the road to see a cerb across the carriageway, but glad to hear you are ok. I didn't speak to you straight away as I thought I'd see you at the destination!

Good to hear you are ok and that no one was hurt. I had a horrible feeling when I saw the cerb and prius in the rear view mirror. As previously said, it is a shame it happened on the run it did. Hope you get everything sorted and back on the road soon.

Oh crap. Really sorry to read this. I hope the car gets fixed soon, but more importantly we are pleased to read that you are OK. Thanks for making the trip, but it's such a shame it ended like this for you.

If sticking plasters and dressing could fix cars, i'd deliver up a ton of lily's stuff in a shot ... and we'd chuck in a case of morphine as well, just to numb the pain of the experience. It's a '95 - a very good vintage so I am told!

I'm really sorry to hear about this and I hope you get it sorted quickly. Lovely car.

I lost my stunning 993 C2S (911) in January this year in a very similar incident, but it was a write off. It's taken me until 2 weeks ago to 'get back in the saddle' and buy the Porsche 928 that I came down in on Saturday to Russell and Lily's.

Take it easy out their folks.

So sorry I didn't manage to make it all the way there d_m_n, but from reading the thread on GG it sounds like the day was amazing and a complete success regardless, and I was thinking of you guys all day.

Thanks to everyone who helped push me to the side and to the nice chap and his wife in the M3 cab who stayed behind to make sure we were all ok. Oh, and to the people in the Prius that I clipped. They couldn't have been nicer about it, really. Police were great, too.

The Cerb held up really well, and we must have had a guardian angel watching over us as it could have been so much worse for everyone involved. I count myself very lucky. Bit embarassing, though....

Hoping the Cerb can be fixed-up quickly and back on the road, ready for some nicer weather. I hate to think of her sitting there in the cold compound and not at home with me. Should hear the verdict within 48 hours.

Oli, glad you got home ok, t'was me in the M3 behind you and I must say seeing it all unfold right in front of me was 'interesting'
As I said at the time it could have been a hell of a lot worse and I'd gamble on you being back in the Cerb in the not too distant future
