A thread in general gassing got me thinking. What king of range do you get from a tank & what engine and mk are you running?

About 220 from a mk1 1.8 for me...

Mk3 2.Ol
Really depends, roof up on a motorway = more MPG than roof & windows down, heaters on.

Also around 220 miles from a 1.8 Mk1, but I only ever seem to get 35 litres back into the tank! So it could probably hit 300 miles with the gauge on empty before spluttering and dying.

I get around 420-440 km's to a tank and I can usually get 39 litres back in. Car is mark 1 1.6. Am I right in thinking the tank holds 45 litres???

If it's an early Mk1 then no, it's about 40L eek
Later Mk1s had 45 litres (10 gallons) and Mk2 onwards have 50 litres.

Most people seem to fill up when the needle approaches the empty mark but in most cases it's far from empty at that point. I've done 70 miles After reaching empty before though it was running on fumes by that point!

Approximately 400km / 248 miles to £48 of 95 ron, so 40 litres.

Works out at 28mpg.

When filling my car up, it tops out at about 3/4 full...and will then run about a quarter of the way past the red line!

confused

Anyone know why this may be, or how I can adjust it to read right?

(1.6 mk1 Eunos btw!)

Probably because new dial faces have been fitted and the needle hasn't been put back on properly wink

Mk1 1.8 around 240-50 miles per tank.

Every month or so I stick a couple of doses of redex injector cleaner in the tank & am usually surprised that I do actually get better mileage for a while (Redex very cheap at costco- 4 double size bottles for £15).

320 miles from less than 40litres (that's a range of 400 miles from the tank).

I only get around 180 from my 91 1.6. I do fill up as soon as the needle hits empty though.
