Just got back from Porsche Open at Croft.

It was the opening round of the Porsche Open and Porsche Club Championships today at Croft and despite the weather (lots of rain) it was a top day.

Richard Chamberlain's 935 is quite amazing. Watching it fly down the main straight past all the other slower cars was awesome. It put Rupert Lewin's fabulous 996 GT2R in the shade (although his car spat the biggest flames). I was able to have a good nosey round the 935 after the race along with a small crowd that mobbed the machine.

Henry Firman did well, but he was all on his lonesome in 3rd place. It would be nice if 1 or 2 other folks entered a 996 Cup car to keep him honest. Paul Howells was 5th in his distinctive 993.

Perhaps a few of you fellas will go and watch the racing when it gets to your local circuit?

Sounds like it was a good day. I may go to a few rounds when the racing comes down south. I think I'm write in saying that Croft is 'way up north'.

Yup, it's WAAAAAAAAAAY oop north. Near Darlington which is near Middlesborough. I actually travel south to get there as I'm in Newcastle.
As ever when I'm at Croft, I bought 1 or 2 hot pork sarnies (lovely) and the fella who was selling them asked me if I minded a Scottish fiver in my change. He said that the southerners didn't like them cos their boozers often declined them. Hee hee.
