I seem to have a stange burning smell filtering in from the engine on the odd occasion.
On further inspection it appears that the fabric protecting the bonnet from the engine heat has come unstuck from the bonnet. This probabaly happened during its recent respray. Is there special glue/resin which is used to stick the fabric on?

Go out into your neighbourhood and find the vandalising and thieving buggers who afflict our nations vehicles.

After stripping their flesh from thier bones (by what ever means you feel suits) you can then boil their bones down to a glutonous material which is suitable for resticking this material.

If not then if you enquire at Halfords or a good Motorfactors about heat resistant glues/resins they should be able to point you in the right direction.

I'll send the big nutty Labrador out into the neighbourhood right away!

The placid collie can take a trip to Halfords.

It'll save on dog food for one of them at least !!

Sorry I don't know of any specific glues but do be careful as I have heard stories of people using inferior glues and ending up with the insulation wrapped around the belts and on fire etc etc.

Mine didn't have any when I got it having lost it somewhere previously. I have never bothered replacing it...

Cheers

OK, so it wasn't the insulation!!!!

I drove up to David Geralds for a re-trim on the rear hood yesterday, when the smell got progressively worse. Stopped to have a break about 20 miles to go (actually needed a big breakfast fry up!), then fuelled up. Tried to start car on the fore-court and wasn't going anywhere. Pushed the car off the fore-court on my own whilst being watched by numerous helpful individuals! A quick look around the fuel pump area( recently had problems with bad contacts and faulty pump ) found nothing untoward. Check around the passenger footwell fuses and oh no !!! melting terminal block and charcoaled fuse. (I think ECU).
Anyway replaced the fuse and limped the rest of the 20 miles with Fire engine in hand. (Fire extinguisher to the ready).

Made it though. - hope the hood looks good !!!!!!!!!!!

There is no lining on my bonnet either.
Allows free passage of the roar.
