Gran Turismo 5 Drifting Series

Hi,
There seems to be a few series already running but theres no Drifting Series.
If anyone is interested I will set up a lobby tonight around 9:30PM.

Unfortunately there is no online Drifting Score but we will just do it for fun.

The first track will be, Tsukuba Crcuit and after that we can vote for tracks.

All are welcome in any type of car.

If theres enough interest it will become a weekly series.

I wt to get into the drifting a bit more, but 1, it is damn hard with a DS3 controller, and 2, I'm still grinding through A & B spec for XP at the moment.

Have you had a look at any of the drift-spec tunes on GTP? I got myself a Volvo 240 for when I do get into it.

Not used any of them, I built a S13 for drifting. Its a basic tune but it works.

Also its simple to drift a Mercedes C63 AMG with the DS3.

Turn all aids off and leave the Merc stock.

I only use the DS3 for the PS3

I'm holding my own on most of the challenges and races, but I'm finding the precision work hard with a DS3 - like the licences, virtually all Bronzed, with a handful of silvers. I either need to be less ham-fisted, or consider a wheel setup to take it to the next level.

I'll come back to this one though at some point - there is a trophy for the 10,000pt drift that needs to be added to the collection.

I'm up for that, should be fun. It would have been nice keep track of scores as with the time-trial thread, this has to be done online anyway

The cars are tentative for the moment, I have the Integrale roughly set up with a 10/90 torque split but it's not quite working as I'd like it to yet. I picked up the Amuse S2000 earlier which I've been after for a while, so I think I'll give it a go, I might set up something else later on.

I only use a DS3 too, its so much easier to drift standard cars than I remember it being in GT4.

Id love to play but no internet for the PS3. I race with a DFGT, and im trying to teach myself how to drift with it, getting there, but nothing compared to the big boys, im much better at drifting with a DS3, but its nowhere near as rewarding when you get it pretty much perfect.

Some of the tunes on GTP can be an acquired taste, i tried the S15 RM drift tune and couldnt get on with it, and a few others. I much prefer my own settings, none of them are perfect, but i like to think they're growing with me.

Also, certain tunes work well with DS3's but will be a right pain with wheel, and vise versa.

Much easier with the pad both racing and drifting I think, I whipped out the pad to get some golds, try d-pad and buttons over analogue I find it easier as that's what I grew up using. Wheel only a benefit in the slaloms. As for drifting pump the throttle to control the slide rather than using the steering. Much easier to pick up with a pad but less rewarding than a wheel by far.

If your getting a wheel don't expect to be faster straight away. It will be a few months before you can match your pad times never mind beaat them. The wheel is a benefit with little grip but if racing on race tires there is nothing in it at all hence why gt academy has been held on dodgy tires over the years as they dont want pad users turning up on the day of finals lol.

Yeah i've had a good play with the C63, its one of my few cars thats still standard as its so much fun standard. My favourite toy at the moment for sliding is the amuse 350Z, comfort softs with a wheel it loads of fun, a bit of camber and front toe out helps i find.

Shame there's not much interest, its a tad boring drifting on my own, im dying to get online.
