Just planning ahead for when my winter tyres are stripped off next spring will want to get the alloys refurbed. They've done a fair few winters now.

Anyone used these guys on Tyburn Road.

Any other recommendations?

I'm in Worcester so this side would be useful but no big deal within reason.

didn't they used to be called Lab Tap??

I took a set of 18" Porsche Speedline splits to get done a couple of years ago and the finish was poor to be fair.
Maybe I'm just being picky, but I paid over £400 to get the wheels refurbed and I expected a far better paint finish than I got.
I could see too many imperfections for my liking.

Also, the paint flaked off 2 of the wheels within 12 months so I'm thinking they weren't prepped correctly either.

Have to say though, I would recommend A1 wheels in Wolverhampton.

Yes they did, or there is some connection there with Lab Tap.

Thanks for feedback and recommendation. I'm not being picky about the work as they are wintr alloys, but would like to use someone recommended by Phers.

Cheers!!

Good Morning.

I had my RS4 wheels done at Wheel Specialist in Nottingham (same business as the WMids) Excellent job. 2 of my friends have subsequently got theirs' done at WS too in the WM (one of them having used them a few years back with really good results. The wheels were finished to a very high standard and have lasted without any peeling - he sold the call to his next door neighbour so sees it every day)

I have used them and they did a great job. Price was reasonable too.

1st Class Alloys in Lichfield - I went to them for other reasons but saw the quality of their work and it's really good. There's no way I'll go anywhere else when I need mine refurbishing. No connection to them, just genuinely impressed; I've seen (and sadly bought) plenty of badly refurbished wheels so wish I'd found them sooner.

As referenced by BJW above, yes, I used The Wheels Specialist a few yrs ago on my wife's MX5.... 4 yrs on they're still perfect.

Since then, I've done the Atom's wheels (2 yrs ago, still perfect) and last month both the RS & ST had their wheels done there. All look fantastic and I think the finish is as hard as nails. Definately recommend them.

A1 Wheels is who we use at work (Mercedes-Benz of Wolverhampton) there work is pretty perfect to be honest but have used the wheel specialist and haven't had a problem but my choice would be A1 in Wolverhampton.

I used them to refinish my Porsche wheels earlier this year. The first attempt was very poor indeed. They had a second attempt and the wheels were only just acceptable. Quite frankly, they should have done them again. However, I did not have the time or inclination to take them back for a third attempt. The faults were paint runs, uneven paint, chips in the paint etc. So very disappointing and definitely not on my recommended list.

They did my MX5 wheels as well. One patch has flaked off around the centre cap when it was taken out. Which is a bit irritating. I should take it back and get them to sort it really... <adds to list of things to do>

I used A1 in Wolverhampton several years ago - they refurbished my Cosworth alloys back to OEM spec. The wheels were perfect and stayed perfect. Can't remember how much they charged, but I would definitely recommend them.
