Confused by TV Connections
Discussion
I've been looking at buying a new TV, but have to confess to being a little overawed by all of the specifications that apply to newer TV's. I currently only have one source capable of high definition, which is my WD media player. I may be getting a new TiVo box in the very near future, in which case a better TV will be important. I'm also considering building a media centre PC (something low powered, with XBMC Live OS possibly).
Currently I have the following devices:
Scart 1:
1 x AV
1 x USB 2.0
2 x HDMI
1 x Headphone Out
1 x CI SLOT (TV Side)
1 x RF IN
1 x Full RGB SCART
1 x Component in (y,pb,pr) + Audio (480i/480p/576i/576p/720p/1080i/1080p - 1080p:60p/50p
1 x Digital Audio Out (coaxial/Optical)
1 x RGB In (D-SUB 15PIN)-PC
1 x PC audio input
1 x RS-232C (Control/SVC)
Assuming no change in the source devices, would the following work:
As above, plus PC cables into "(D-SUB 15PIN)" and "PC audio input".
Sorry if this is a stupid question, it's just a big step from a 2 SCART TV into something more connected!
Currently I have the following devices:
Scart 1:
- Virgin V (SD) Box
- Combined DVD / Video
- Wii
- WD Media Player
1 x AV
1 x USB 2.0
2 x HDMI
1 x Headphone Out
1 x CI SLOT (TV Side)
1 x RF IN
1 x Full RGB SCART
1 x Component in (y,pb,pr) + Audio (480i/480p/576i/576p/720p/1080i/1080p - 1080p:60p/50p
1 x Digital Audio Out (coaxial/Optical)
1 x RGB In (D-SUB 15PIN)-PC
1 x PC audio input
1 x RS-232C (Control/SVC)
Assuming no change in the source devices, would the following work:
- Virgin V box and DVD/Video into SCART switch block, then into "Full RGB SCART"
- WD Media Player into one of the HDMI ports
- WII into "Component In" with this
- TiVo into one of the HDMI ports
- WD Media Player into one of the HDMI ports
- Combined DVD/Video into "Full RGB SCART"
- WII into "Component In" with this
As above, plus PC cables into "(D-SUB 15PIN)" and "PC audio input".
Sorry if this is a stupid question, it's just a big step from a 2 SCART TV into something more connected!
