M6 oil level dropped when not driven for 3 weeks
Discussion
Due to the snow and ice we have had the last 3 weeks or so, the M6 was left parked up in my residential parking space for the entire time. The parking space is very close to level, with a very slight incline, so car left on a very small uphill. It wouldn't even roll backwards it's so small.
So I fire her up for the first time in 3 weeks and all seems fine, but I get down the road and notice the oil level reading 0.1. I know that I recently topped up with half a litre and the reading was on 0.9 when I last checked it, so thought this was very odd. I pulled over and reset the reading and it then came back at 0.2. I figured this would be ok for the short drive I had but I was concerned as to why it had dropped so much.
I am a bit worried it's a dodgy reading and that putting 0.8 litres of oil in might over fill the engine. I'll call BMW today to see what they suggest. Has anyone else had this?

Morning, not heard from you in a while (new job means new email address so apologies if you've been in contact).
I'm the same, I just can't fully trust an electronic read out, give me a dipstick any day
I gave it a good 30 minute or so drive, without pushing it too hard at all and reset the reading, still on 0.2. I literally only put half a litre in it a few weeks ago and it had just dropped from 1.0 to 0.9 a day or so before the snow arrived.
I've just booked it in with BMW on Saturday for a quick check, as over filling it is my main fear.
