We've looking for a short break away end of April / early May 2011 and quite fancy a private log cabin. I've had alook around on the internet but there doesn't seem to be much available.

Log cabin (not a fabricated thing on a holiday park)
Quiet and intimate
Private
Wooded / lakeside location if possible
not too expensive
sleeps two
hot tub
not necessarily UK based

I stayed in a fantastic one last year and I can't for the life of me remember where. Somewhere in Wales.

Was fantastic. Will watch this thread to see if it pops up!

I looked at these guys before, when trying to plan a trip for a large group although the didn't have availability when I needed it.

They have a few log cabins in their Portfolio such as the one below

Stayed there a couple of times and always recommend it.

Thanks for the heads up. We've booked this with a 2 bed Golden Oak Lodge.

Whereabouts? Let us know how you find it. We only got as far as looking this year, but are thinking about them for next.

We've booked for The New Forest. It's just a short break away for end of April to make use of all those bank Holidays the government have been kind enough to give us.

We like the look of Deer Park in Cornwall but they didn't have what we wanted for when we wanted.

That was the site that we stayed at.

It is set in a valley where there used to be a gunpowder mill, so there is absolutely no mobile phone coverage at all on any network (in case it matters to anyone as a positive or negative).

The shell of each type of Forest Holidays cabin is the same, but the difference is both in the fixtures and fittings (which is an immense difference), and in the location of the cabin (the Golden Oak cabins are overlooking the stream at the bottom of the valley, the others are on stilts up the hill).

Not much in the surrounding area, until you get down to the coast, but good for a few quiet days away.
