My petrol 2002 Mondeo has a five speed "MTX 75" gear box, currently broken.

Are all "MTX 75"'s the same, i.e. would one from a Focus / Transit / Escort etc fit, or are they different.

Does a Mondeo diesel have the same box?

They are all different.

Early units have a rod change, later units cable.

Cable units have different shifter turrets.

Bellhousings differ according to engine type.

Later units have a bigger differential.

Input shaft length varies.

Ratios vary wildly.

You need to select your replacement unit very carefully.

Thanks.
The one I am currently looking at is from another Mondeo of the same year, but 2.0 rather than a 1.8.
You don't happen to know whether they are likely to be the same do you?

The final drive ratio may be different, I would check with a dealer's parts department.

It should fit, and work adequately, though it may feel like you're in the wrong gear at times.
