Not for me (don't panic chaps!) but the good lady has indicated that she would like some diamond earrings for Christmas.

Anyone know of a half decent jeweller in London to help me or should I get myself to Hatton garden?

Before you go to Hatton Garden get some idea of what she likes else you'll be bamboozled by the choice!

Nothing fancy, something she can wear everyday. Studs perhaps?

You could speak to DomH, there is a place in HG with a large sale on at the moment, not sure about the quality though.

I had the de beers helicopter pilot in the office yesterday complaining about the size of crane we have just put up close to his flight path!

If your budget is over £2500 you may want to spend a long weekend in Dubai. It will pay for itself as diamonds were half the price two years ago when I bought my wife some.

I bought the gf some drop earings from Costco, but paid about £700 and it came with a nice insurance retail price certificate that said £1750. They were 18 k white gold and .7 ct diamonds with another precious stone in he centre.

So if you are a member then I would give them a go. In the end unless you buy from the top brands the result will be the same.

if you are going to Singapore, and you know your grades of diamonds...buy the diamonds separately from the setting, and then get a setting made to your wish...did this for my wife a while back. Drop earings i think look better they reflect the light compared to studs....god how do i know this stuff!!!

If you are going to Sing shop around, you will get GST (VAT) off, don't go to the expensive malls (Tangs, Paragon etc), try some others and bargain like mad....

OT - but I think Nicky Oppenheimer of De Beers is the only person who has permission to commute into the city by helicopter Not a bad way to get to work!
