Melted Fuse - Cause for Concern?

Evening,

The heater panel in my Griff stopped working, I checked the 15A fuse and it has melted:



Is this cause for concern?

I've melted fuses before, though not in the Tiv. usually due to a bad contact where high resistance builds and thus so does heat. I usually put a little petroleum gelly or grease on my fuses now

I bet you wish your heaters / wipers were as easy to fix, my car is nice and toasty again now.

Mind you I did look like a mug on Sunday leaving my roof at home when it rained and then no heater to add insult to injury, I was wet and cold driving back

I'd say that's a faulty fuse rather than anything else - the contacts are fine and aren't discoloured so it looks like a high resistance junction (probably partially fractured) between the "fuse" part of the fuse and the "leg".

HAHAHAHAHAHA thanks for the sympathy Hoover! It was very cold with no heater and no roof!

PS - you got those coolant hoses fitted yet?

I used to be into car hifi in a big way when I was younger. Believe me, 12vDC can have an incredible heating effect over long periods of time.
