Best way to check is to get a nail and a hammer - put the nail in the tyre, pull it out, go for a gentle drive round the block see what happens rolleyes

If its 2002 then it came with runflats from the factory, but as that was 8 years ago its unlikely (and unsafe) that the originals are still on.

Chaps,

The question was "Do I have to have run flat tyres on my car"????

the car comes with them on but if I bypass the sensors is there any other reason to have runflats?

you can't bypass the sensors. They are not that type of sensor nor do you need too, if you want normal tyres, put them on, its that simple. You may need to reset the tyre light by holding the button by your handbrake and that's it

Put a can of gas to fix any punctures you get and your away - don't make it any more complicated, you want normal tyres ~ fit them...

RKDE is correct, just put non-runflats on and press the runflat button in to reset it. Job done. I did this about a month ago, all fine.
