I've heard that there's a new cambridgeshire track day venue. Anyone know where it is? Bookatrack.com talks about it. Oakington, Wyton, Alconbury? Interested of Cambridgeshire...

If it's Oakington then I should be able to hear the action if I pop out into the office car park... I thought the runway at Wyton was being dug up and used as hard core for motorway construction. Mike

The Wyton runway is alive and well and in daily use (or it was last week when I was working there). My money is on the mystery venue being Alconbury.

Mike... Where are you and what you got? I'm not in Oakington, but a friend and his Esprit S3 is. I've got a Chim 500 just up the road... (Sorry everyone else... I would e-mail, but there's no link in the profile)

Yessssss! It's Oakington. Huge perimeter road, with no other suitable roads crisscrossing it, so hopefully it'll have to be one huage circuit. If any locals want a good map of the circuit, contact me privately. I've got a stitched together aerial photo of the whole circuit (which is unfortunately (c) multimap.com so I'm not going to post it anywhere...)

Try this http://146.101.249.82/map/photo.cgi?client=photo&scale=25000&X=541000&Y=265500&width=700&height=410&gride=0&gridn=0' If you zoom, you don't get all of it. but it looks pretty good. Wish I had a suitable car for track days Edited by sparks on Tuesday 1st May 11:53

Sparks: the image I have is very high resolution: 4000 x 3000, so about 2Mb even when JPEG compressed. I made it up of about 80 of multimap's 1:2000 aerial photos. Yes, I was bored. Drop me your e-mail address and I'll ship it over to you.

Further stuff for those that give a damn. I trickled down the little road that runs parallel to the left hand straight (see Sparks' URL above) and peered through the gates to see what was what. http://www.secure-si.co.uk/chris/oakington/turn1.jpg and http://www.secure-si.co.uk/chris/oakington/turn2.jpg Show you a couple of corners (in widescreen ). One word of caution though: mooooooo! Edited by Marshy on Wednesday 2nd May 01:14
