I have lost all the lights in my 5 bar the seatbelt and the brake lights on the dash board, the stereo lights and the headlights. It was very strange was working one minute and gone the next.

The RAC man says it is an electrical fault and so I have a mechanic coming to see her on Friday to fix it. We tried to put in 4 new fuses and they blew every time, so ended up on the back of a lorry getting recovered back to my house.

Has anyone else had a similar problem and know what to expect the main problem will be... I hope it wont end up costing the earth!

You have a short, a multimeter should help you identify where it is

what year also, i can direct you to electrical wiring diagrams for certain years.

First thing is to check/clean all earthing points. Then its out with a multimeter I'm afraid!

That sounds right, I have a guy coming on Friday to take a look so he should fix it.

Does sound like a smallish problem which is good.

Might take you up on the diagrams if he gets snowed in and cant make it though!

I don't have anything after market bar the stereo which has been in since before I brought it almost 2 years ago... must be the earthing problem.

The good news is the brake lights are working so I was able to drive the car to work to get fixed today.

Hopefully I will have a fit and healthy 5 very soon! biggrin

Sounds like an earthing problem.

Are you in Redhill? I see one like yours on my way home of an evening.

It was a wire from the stereo which had be fitted incorrectly - before I purchased the car - that is all sorted now and it was done for just £30!

Really nice bloke, who was recommended by Classic and Sports Car editorial team, would recommend him. He even worked though the blizzard we have just had in Teddington!

I live in Putney, so must be another driving around Redhill, although my parents live out that way so you might have seen me when visiting them.

So glad to have her back on the road, will be a fun journey home if this snow continues smile
