Black 911 turbo heading into Harrogate, it was nice playing with you. I was the red Cerbera with kids and wife screaming slow down and stop messing around.

Pulled out of Bolton Abbey and was enjoying the sounds going through the arch Waved at the broken down Dexy but had AA man so didn't stop, then went on up the A59.

The road was nice and clear, but I wasn't in a hurry so was just cruising up the hill. Slower traffic at the top, then I noticed him. Black 996 Turbo right up my chuff.

Kids in the back having a good look at the porsche and asking if we were faster, would a red rose be faster, would a Typhon be faster. Oh for goodness sake, just sit down and be quiet - Dad's looking for an overtaking oppertunity.

We overtook several cars and he was stuck to my back bumper. It was raining so couldn't give it full hoon and I don't know the road at all, speed traps, dodgy corners etc, but still made good progress right into Harrogate where he pulled off just past Harrogate Horseless Carriages.

I even thought about letting him past so I could see the view from behind, but the devil in me wouldn't let that happen.

If he caught you up he was going faster than you. Old racing truism You should've moved over at a layby, like tractors and caravans do

Those 996tts are probably the fastest all weather supercar out there. Good in those conditions. You must have bigger plums than him to really press on

I bet the kiddies will remember the drive for years to come

When I first got my 4 litre chim last May I was driving on the M1 to Oxford one fine Saturday afternoon, with hood down, and music playing thinking I was the man.

Saw a 911 in my mirror, and thought right lets go, proceeded to bury the throttle. I kid you not by the time I had got the peddle half way down the 911 was level with me and blasted past (undertook me too!), it was then that I noticed it said turbo on the back as it headed rapidly towards the horizon
