How far do you want to fly? Only places that are hot and a short flight away (4 hours) are the Canaries & Egypt. If you can put up with 10+ hours then the Caribbean, but it won't be cheap!
Morocco? Tunisia? I've been in Malaga at Christmas when it was over 20C, too.Canaries are only 4 hours away.
For best weather choose either southern Lanzarote - which means Playa Blanca and mostly 4 star hotels or northern Furetevntura and Corralejo which is much more self catering biased.
Playa Blanca has a couple of small beaches and waterfront bars and restaurants. The famous Papagayo beaches are nearby down a dirt track. Avoid Puerto del Carmen and Coasta Teguise. They are both Chav infested s
t holes. The drive through the volcanic Timanfaya park is stunning and the north of the island is pretty too. Ferries cross to Furteventura hourly.
The Rubicon Palace hotel in Playa Blanca would be my choice but it's some way from the towm centre.
Corralejo is a bit scruffy compared to Playa Blanca but has some excellent restaurants. Furteventura has some of the best beaches in the world. Visit El Cotillo, Playas de Corralejo (the famous sand dunes) and Playas de Jandia. Avoid Calletta de Fustes - it's a dump and too close to the airport.
Inland the island is deserted with some really good hooning roads.
I'd choose self catering at Las Marismas - it's very simple, clean and cheap.
Weather over the next few weeks will be a bit unsettled. You may get a couple of rainy days - and it'll almost certainly be windy too. T shirts and shorts weather and warm clothes if you're out at night.

My folks used to go every year to "The Gambia" for some cheap sun (it's almost bang on the equator)

(I think it was mentioned on the places you'd never go thread so may not be everyones cup of tea)

Never been to Cape Verdi, have a good time. We spent a week just before Christmas in Sharm el Sheikh, was going to suggest that. Very hot and very cheap
Egypt was option 2, been a few times. Every year is more full of aggressive ruskies though.
(Not as cheap as it was either, must be used to insurance claims against the afformentioned Russians).
Back from ape Verde, very nice. Not a lot there but he beach was awesome.
Anybody into 'wind' sport will love it kite surfing and sailbording.
Nowt much there but not the usual scavenging. No tips required.
Slums were a bit saddening but all the kids were smiling.
Will develope like the Canaries in 2 years time, go there this year or next.
The only all inclusive holiday where i haven't spent a fortune.
RIU hotels on Sal, are actually 'All' inclusive 24/7.
