I run a small business. After a customer has determined what he wants to buy from me, I go away and order the items. A couple of weeks later I go back along with a hand written delivery note/invoice.
Hand written.
Ugh.
It looks rubbish.
What I'd like to do is somehow have a template of the delivery note in front of me on the comp monitor, type in the details on that template and then print it off with one of the many blank numbered notes I have available.
This will of course make me look loads more professional and guarantee 100% increase in turnover.
Well maybe not.But it's another step in the right direction.
Tell me what to do please.

Why not use your Word Processor? I set something similar up in Word and saved it as a Word template. Works a treat.

Plus Word will do all the calculations for you if you set it up right.

Even better, create a word document, put some form fields in it and 'protect for forms'. Then you just call up the doc, tab from field to field inputting their info and print it off.

Bob is then family.

If Ted's idea is a bit too complex, the simple WP route will work fine - I have done this for invoices and estimates for 12 years!

One very useful thing (if you have Word) is the text box. This may be in your toolbar or you can find it from the Insert menu. This puts a box on the page which you can drag to size, position anywhere you like and change the look of by double-clicking its edge. You can also fill them with any shade of grey or a colour. Then click inside the box and type wehat you want as usual.

Once you get the page the way you like, save it. Then to make one for a different cutomer, change the details and do 'save as' to keep it separate.

Although more complex, but ultimately more effective from a business perspective.

A database such as access can be setup, you keep a record of your customers a record of your products and a record of your sales, a report can then be designed (to look like an invoice) containing the details of the customer and which products they purchased it can also summarise the totals, contain method of payment etc, can be useful for end of year stuff. for getting information.

I think theres a template/wizard in access for a simple system like this.

If you go the word route, there are plenty of free templates for download that might be of use:
