Help! Can anyone (Melv perhaps?) point me in the direction of sensible insurers who will entertain the idea of a full cage in a 964RS. I am not bothered about cover for trackdays.

Lots of insurers seem to be bothered about personal injury resulting from cages so tend to decline cover.....

Thanks in advance.

Carole Nash.

That said, I have now removed mine which makes life with insurers easier. I want another one tho' as they look fantastic and help safety-wise.

Also check out the 964RS forum on the pcgb forums as this very point was discussed recently.

1) They think you will drive like a nutcase if you fit a cage as you feel more invulnerable (airbags anyone?)

2) They think that racing drivers will claim for their racing damage (you need a cage to go racing, so insurers use it to sort the racers from the public)

Daft, but that's how I understand it.

The above does unfortunately make sense Dom,
So roll cage out are you close to getting it back on the road?

I am looking forward to your initial comments when you get to drive it again, i think it will blow your mind compared to your recent choice of conveyance

It is back from final paint prep.

Rolling road this week - allegedly

The cage is out as I think the floor plates were for a bolt in Heigo not a Matter, and tech didn't want to cut out and reweld.

Can't wait...

As I understand it, the reason full cages are an issue is that they are designed to be used with a helmet, when all that metal work in close proximity with your head is not a problem. In normal road driving conditions tho you may actually be taking quite a big risk of head injury from the roll cage, hence the insurance company's nervousness to insure them.

Liverpool & Victoria - no problem, no need to notify them of any modifications unless it is to the engine.

For those who have policies with AON, how have you found the service? They don't appear overly keen for any business given their general attitude & response....
