gearbox type

HI, probably a stupid question, have searched the threads but can anyone tell me how i can find out what type gearbox i have in my s2, type 9 or mt75 ? i have looked at pictures online some show smooth bell housings and others webbed. thanks Jes

Type 9 (sometimes also called Type N).

AFAIK TVR never fitted an MT75 to S-series V6 cars.

According to Steve Heath they did, some s2's and s3's had them put in as the exception rather then the rule.

In 20 years of s ownership, I never saw one.
I suspect it is something TVR were considering, but never did.

I see, Steve Heath in the first edition of his book makes it sound like it was standard for the s2/3/4 , then in the second edition corrects him self by saying it was exception! So it actually turns out hardly none had them in !

Hi ,
MT75 will not have a detachable bellhousing and if it is fitted to a V6 then it will most likely be a hybrid made up from an XR4x4 front half and 2wheel drive back half. I know a little bit about them , I am making one up for my Taimar. Just search on MT75 on ebay and you will see pictures.

I suspect that SH was mislead. TVR probably wanted to do it, but didn't.

MT75 has syncro on reverse also...also fitted to 2.9 manual 2wd Granada's and later 2.0 Twin Cam Sierra's. Yes opposite 5 on the H pattern.
Used to be great for autotesting new cars around the gravel compound with the bonus of the Syncro.....Shhh I should not say these things...Oh well it was 20 years ago and I was young..

I read about those! I thought it was just a supercharged pinto, very very cool
