does anyone know of a half decent machine that operates on a timer (yes like a teasmaid!)

Wife leaves for work at stupid o clock and never has time to turn on the espresso machine & make coffee but if one was ready and she could just grab it then happy days.

The teasmaid thing only works with st coffee so she wouldnt drink it.

ideas anyone?

(and no, im not waking up to make her one!)

How about setting it up the night before and using one of these to fire it up at the required time?

My filter coffee machine (just a cheapo one from Comet/Currys/etc.) has a physical on-off switch so would work with a simple timer as shown above, you just need to go and find a similar machine if you've not got one.

just turn it on before you go to bed leaving the group in place as that needs to be warm to get a decent crema

I have a Kenwood Brew Station which makes fantastic filter coffee, if your wife fancies that. The timer is dead easy to set.

What about a one of the pod machines Tassimo, Nespresso etc.

Insert pod, press button, drink served in less than a minute.

all good ideas thx, needs to be espresso not filter coffee, nespresso etc fine but the crux is that it must turn itself on and warm up itself, no on button to press. Anything that delays it will mean it doesnt get used.

30 seconds from press to consume, surely that's not too much. If it is then I doubt there's actually time to drink it before leaving!

My Nespresso machine takes no more than 1 minute from turning on to producing a coffee, and has a hardware on/off switch smile

Another vote for nespresso, I leave mine on the green standby 24/7, capsule in and coffee in 19sec. JD

Serious coffee addicts would plumb it in to a cold water feed! ;p

This is where the Nespresso offer comes into its own.

I can do this with my eyes closed first thing in the morning - in fact, sans contacts / glasses it is almost blind some mornings!

Indeed - and make sure you install a flow limiter, too...
