Is it possible to turn the airbag off on a 51 plate 330ci, BMW are saying they dont have the technology to do it as its an older model.

Anyone know if there is a way? Baby on the way!

It can be done, it has been possible from e36 era, and was present is all cars up until 2005, when instead you retrofit a key switch.

If you want to do it the cheap and easy way, you just need to disconnect the front passenger airbag, the side / door airbag if fitted, and swap the seatbelt tensioner to a mechanical one instead of the explosive one.

This will leave the Airbag light on, but the rest of the system will work as normal.
The full version is those steps plus coding to tell the SRS controller that it can ignore the missing components.

To recode the airbag after disconnecting everything, it will need a code from BMW, but try someone with Autologic if BMW aren't playing ball.

It's the one feature I miss on my 2004, E46. Means that my 6yr old sits in the back on his booster which I don't think impresses him!
