Bellagio Casino Bandit has Quite a Problem

Could he (or an accomplice) go in, have his stolen chips split into small ones then cash those in instead?
Possibly; however, cameras watch everybody, literally. If someone cashes chips they were not seen winning in the casino, there could be a problem. I suspect there is an ID chip as earlier discussed.I didn't even think it was a secret that all the big casinos have RFID tagged chips these days. It was discussed extensively on a gambling forum I was on a few years ago. This guy has zero chance of cashing any of those chips. The only reason the casino hasn't stated this explicitly is presumably the hope that he'll actually be stupid enough to try.

Hang on - how would RFID work to stop them being cashed in in this case? Are you allowed to remove chips from a casino under normal circumstances? If so, he's got no problem, they'll have no idea which chips are the robbed ones. If, on the other hand no chips are allowed to leave the premises and they can simply identify the missing ones - then he is indeed, buggered.

Think he's stolen a few 25k chips which are closely monitered normally so as soon as he tries cashing those they'll be on him like a rash. If he tries and swaps them at one of the tables im sure they'd get noticed toodepending on what type of RFID they are using they can be tagged with information, assuming they have been flashed and logged they would show up when cashed.
He may be very lucky and find they have not but even then the casino would be interested to know why they had not go any data on them.

Each chip has a unique ID and they have an impressive database of the 'history' of the high value chips, tied to personal details if you happen to be staying at the hotel. Anyone showing up with any of them will have some serious explaining to do - they'll know that they're the stolen ones. The low value ones won't be as closely tracked, as they don't always bother with RFID, so I suppose he could get away with passing some of those.

I would have thought it's just easier to scrap the current design and get new chips in.
But it's more fun to wait until he tries to cash them in, and then take him into to kitchen and beat the s
t out of him.
