Just been banned for 35 days for speeding, unless I can talk Mrs Swindorski into driving......

That is my worst nightmare. What speed were you doing?

Not good news I guess.

On the positive side though, it's only five weeks, I guess it could have been worse. And it means you can get any little jobs done on the car that you've been meaning to do for ages.

105 on the A1(M). Clear dry road.

Bit harsh, but could have been much, much worse.

Still, think of all the money I'll save from not buying any Optimax!

Well as Andy said, it could've been much worse. Does this mean we'll see thread titles such as "Spotted, Swindorski on his mountain bike!"

Oh dear, my sympathies. As you say, could have been much worse (a mate with an Integrale got six months a few years back, although it was a slightly worse speeding misdemeanor...). Not that this'll make you feel any better though.

I do Leeds to Surrey every couple of weeks, mostly late night when the roads are clear. I generally stay under the ton but stretch the legs if I get similar conditions to when you got pinched. You've certainly given me a bit of a reality check & I'll be taking it easy in future.

On a positive note, I couldn't drive mine for a couple of months when I broke my leg in summer (only two months after buying the thing!). Having just started getting used to the speed I went through the whole process again when I started driving again (with cast!). I suspect after being deprived of it for 35 days, it's gonna feel pretty bloody special when you get back in it. It's a damned nice Cerb by the way - me & Andy were admiring it shortly before leaving.

Bad news Joe but, like you say, could've been a lot worse...

imagine if there'd been a scamera on the hill away from B.A yesterday for a start

And just think how good your car is going to feel after 5 weeks of not driving it

See you at P.Fest no doubt.

More like "spotted-Swindorski looking miserable sat next to smelly people on a bus" if this morning was anything to go by!

Sorry to hear of the ban, and pleased you were not nicked going any faster.

It does make me think though, we all like to open them up when the road ahead is clear and straight on a fine day, I suppose the Police realise this and lie in wait like a sneaky fox !

MOD.

At least you managed the highlight of B.A. before the ban .

Think yourself lucky it's not over summer. Traveling on a bus/train in the heat with all the windows closed. Nice! and the loony allways sit's next to you

See you at the next one

Truer words could not be said.

I have to drive a diesel Landcruiser for work and coming back to the cerb after 4 or 5 weeks is just sheer unadulterated joy

Think of it as a sabatical and in a few weeks when you fire her up to take her out on the first run it will be automotive heaven (save it for a special run though, not a trip to safeway.)

Sorry to hear of the ban, lots of people saying it could be worse, dont really know myself. What would you have prefered; points and fine or the ban you got.

6 Points, or a shorter ban (2 weeks) would have been spot on.

But then again, according to "Law on the web" the maximum I could have got was £2500!!!

Also an instant ban of up to 56 days was up for grabs too!

They said I should expect a £325 fine, where as I only got £200, plus the court costs which I was going to get whatever.

Then again a friend of mine got 5 points and a £300 fine a couple of months ago for exactly the same offence.

Got to look on the bright side eh?

Many moons ago, I got banned for four weeks.

The one thing it taught me, was to be extra vigilant. I still do silly speeds (cough, on private roads) but have had no points for 16 years.

Oh god, just realised how old I am working that out.

Take a few weeks off work and do all the jobs on the car/house or go away for a holiday. It'll take the sting out of it.

good idea... go on a two week holiday in three weeks... hey presto, only a three week ban really and what a treat to come back to.

Nice idea. I've just been off work for 2 weeks though, don't reckon they'd buy it.

you probably know this, but I read in SP&L forum that you need to re-apply to the DVLA for your licence, it isn't re-issued automatically apparently.
