I've had a cold this last week and a bit of a cough, this morning when I woke and cleared my throat there was blood. It wasn't dark or thick, but there was quite a bit of light red blood. There's been none since.

Naturally I ignored this but after my daily dose of media induced terror (with added H1N1) I now, rationally, assume it's swine flu and death is imminent?

Good idea! Post on a car site rather than visit the doctors. You are a bloke though, right?

Could just be infected sinuses or something like that. I've had that once or twice. I'm recovering from flu myself so wouldn't be surprised if I see something like this in the next couple of days. If you're properly coughing up blood, go see the docs right away!

Sort of burning sensation in chest now.

Cause for concern or too much coughing?

Who needs Doctors when I have the internet. hehe

Go see a doctor, you berk. Some forms of bleeding are easily understood. Internal bleeding could be a sign of something very nasty.

It's nearly half past ten at night, I'm not going out in this. Yes, I'd prefer to die warm in here than frozen out there hehe

I'll leave this till the morning, see how it goes then.

FFS. You should already have seen a professional and be either in hospital or have come back satisfied you will see Christmas Day!

Still alive?

When you say quite a bit of blood are we talking one quite red-covered tissue, or more like nosebleed quantities?

If the former, see GP Monday. If the latter, probably sensible to go to a walk-in centre or A&E. Sounds like probably chest infection, I often bring up a bit of blood when I have them, but if it's bad enough for that you don't want to waste time before seeing a medic cos it won't get much better on its own.

I had blood coughs at the start of the year. Turns out I had a nasty chest/lung infection and the doctor didnt understand how I hadnt collapsed during the previous weekend of skiing hard and drinking harder in Verbier whilst carrying the condition hehe

Worth getting properly checked out, pneumonia etc isnt to be triffled with.
