I have a current subscription to Sky+ with the six mix pack & ESPN.

I have just acquired a SKY HD box.

Plugged in, phoned up to enquire about HD package & to get my card paired to the box.
Was told that it was £10 per month 12 month contract even though they haven't given me any equipment. I asked what I get, was told I get BBC HD, ITV HD, Channel4 HD Movies HD & Sports HD. But as I don't have Movies or Sports then I don't get that.

So I have to pay them £10.25 per month for 12 months minimum for Free to air HD channels.
Even ESPN which I pay for, I don't get HD.

why do I need to pay £120 for Free-to air HD Channels?

From their website - http://www.sky.com/shop/boxes/sky-hd-box/

‡HD channels received depend on your Sky TV subscription. Luxury Life HD, Channel 4 HD, BBC HD, BBC One HD, ITV1 HD and FIVE HD are available without subscription. Channel 4 HD requires a viewing card. ITV1 HD is only available in England and Wales.

They're talking nonsense.

You'll get all the free to air HD channels without the HD subscription, you'll not get your mix pack HD stuff though, Sky1, FX etc.

I get some of the HD channels. mainly C4, BBC & ITV1.

Cant get series link on there though. Spoke to Sky again last night, done a full factory reset and no series link.

Did a software update & full rebuild today and still no series link. Think I will go back to my sky+ box at this rate.
