...they've really started to take the piss recently.

An 'anonymous' supposedly top class Bordeaux, sold off at a 'steal' of a price, is only so because it's so shockingly awful that no Chateau would put their name to it: 93647234 is the stock number.

Please can the name and shame policy be lifted so that no-one else is tempted by this con: it's a £1.99 wine at best.

Quite vile. Just the smell of it is making me gag.

To be fair it's a bit early to be drinking an '09 Bordeaux so it's never going to be that great really. Why not lay it down for a couple of years and re-visit it at Christmas 2012?

Heard nothing good about VW.

From my perspective, a good local merchant who lets you taste stuff is the best bet...although my palate and that of the Majestic buyer seem totally opposed, which is very disappointing having put thick-end of £100 with them.

I have had some of the mentioned wine and there is nothing wrong with it. It is a perfectly good medium quality wine. An equivalent would cost you over £10 in a supermarket. I suggest the OP sticks to Nottage Hill or Hardys.
