Why are they so expensive?

I have owned a 2001 ML for 8 years and it's now worth just a few quid

Looking through the classifieds I notices how expensive G-wagons are
I appreciate that the still loose a fair few it but £30k for a 2000 car ..... I dont understand

Why are they so expensive especially when compares to GL, ML, Range Rover, Cayenne etc

Two reasons.

First and principally, demand way exceeds supply.

Second, the quality of construction is such that a used G-Wagen is so much, much more than any other used car, just like all Mercs used to be.

To the point - well summed up.

The ads show 'low' mileage diesels as well which helps push up the prices. And look at the prices of new ones now available - a lot more expensive that the 'competition'.

A guy who uses my specialist has five - from a 230 SWB to the G55.
Wish I had bought a very nice low mileage 280SWB available locally last year at just over £5k - must really get to look at building a larger garage !!

Search the web - think I also mentioned it in a thread 12 months ago on here. A 'car is reborn' type programme - think in German. Over several videos they buy a 'dog' G wagen and create a better than new G. Worth watching instead of the other rubbish on TV.

Im in the early stages of a G wagon project . until you look at them you just cannot realise how hand and well made they are . awesome bit of kit !
