Being mr sad today, ok its holiday and we are doing the tree and stuff.
we have witnessed 2 head on crunches outside our house in the last hour
both by youngish girls driving round the bend too fast and sliding to a halt when they hit the on comming car.
car 1 was a red VW
car 1 was a few fiesta
When will people learn, 1 inch os snow on top of an icy side road is not great for driving on !!!

When will they learn?
After an accident, but they sometimes forget, then have another...
Also many drivers (more female than male it has to be said, sorry) tend to stamp on the brakes and go oh s
t it's sliding, scream, turn their wheels more to the direction they want to go, keep the foot down hard on the brakes then crunch.....
Please note I did say more female than male, I have seen alot of males do this too....

I genuinely don't know how people have these accidents, even the crappest cars that I've driven have given enough feedback to let you know that, "Hey, there's VERY little grip here, take it easy!"
And as for those going fast enough to flip their cars over
The problem is translating that feedback into "there is very little grip". Mostly it's "Hey, the steering's gone really light. Ain't that handy..." *understeer, lamppost, crash*And as for those going fast enough to flip their cars over

I think that's exactly right - and in FWD car that locks the front wheels and stalls the engine. With the wheels completely locked all hope of steering is lost. After an accident, but they sometimes forget, then have another...

I've got 2 daughters and trying to tell them this stuff is hopeless. They won't start in slippy weather in 2nd gear as they're convinced the car will stall - it annoys the hell out of me in ordinary driving that if their speed drops below about 15mph at Give Ways etc they ram the car into 1st gear.

Yeah, I don't understand this either - I've been driving and cycling around for the last few weeks overly carefully, probably, as it feels like I've got a lot less grip. Not had any problems as a result. How some can fail to notice is beyond me, but they do, as each day I come across people wheel-spinning out of junctions, sliding on roundabouts, overshooting onto junctions. And they still tailgate! Ice and snow, but driving 1" from the car in front.
