Heated Seats....

Daft question I guess, but is it possible to retro-fit heated seats to a 98 Chimaera?

It's not something I'd attempt myself, so I'd be handing it over to a dealer/specialist.

Thoughts?

First track down a set of heated seats...

The heating elements are fitted when the seat is built.

So they can't be fitted? In my previous Saab, they could take the leather seats apart, fit the pads and wiring and then re-stitch them.....

Guess it's a bit of a tall order.

Yes, the element in the seat can be fitted. I had to have mine replaced this winter as the squab in the base had broken (Drivers seat).
The element costs about 20 quid from TMS and a trimers in Leicester did the job for 40 quid. As for retro fitting, its the wiring that may prove to be the problem.
However, as all the seats are constructed the same the actual fitting of the elements into the seats should not be a problem.

The wiring can be added. It is getting a seat with the elements installed in the first place. Not impossible but one of those things that could cost quite a bit of money.

but is it really worth it? We've got heated seats in out Chimaera and I can only recall once in 2 years uisng them...

In honesty, I've had heated seats on my past four cars, and miss them!

However, I'm probably the oly person in the world (or perhaps just get the roof off more often!) who finds the heater inadequate..... My wife and I were decidedly chilly this morning...

I use mine a lot when the roof is off and the temperature is below T-shirt weather. Find they help to take the edge off the cold, a pure luxury though and could live without them, but nice to have..

Also worries first time passengers after a quick run and their bottom becomes rather hot
