Got up to head to the PH open season meet at the Ace Cafe, ignoring the weather reports I set off to Wembley (it can't be that bad after all) in the PH Alfa Spider.
Shortly after leaving the front door the snow starts to fall, traffic is building up but we're at the Hangar Lane roundabout so not too far. Oddly enough the heater has stopped working.....5 mins later and the temp gauge is off the scale. Hmmm. Pull into the Ace 20 seconds later, park up, ponder situation. It's a bit empty.

Call RAC to come and look at the car, get told I'll be waiting 3 hours (not good). Weather is coming in hard and the North Circ is backing up, worrying a bit about getting home. Fortunately the RAC chap turns up in 30 minutes, as do a few hardcore PHers

All that has happened is a clip has come off and the coolant hose has gone AWOL, a temporary fix is done to get me home, but the car needs to go back to the dealer for a permanent fix. Not the Alfas fault, more bad luck on the day but never mind, I'm on my way again (weather now terrible)

North Circ is a standstill and I'm starting to think that we'll be in for the night. I have one eye on the temp gauge just in case. Eventually we are clear and heading towards Chiswick, but the roads are terrible and filled with even more terrible drivers. A couple of hours later and we eventually make it back to PHHQ after negotiating our way around stranded cars. My 124 is waiting and gets us home (after a few donuts in the empty office carpark)
When I get back, Blackpools finest is waiting under a cover of snow (much lighter over here). I'm sure I could hear it laughing at my misfortune, especially after leaving it behind today.

I'm staying in tonight......sod that.
Special mentions must go to the four hardy PHers who turned up at the Ace today. One in an M3 (roof down) one in a 944 cabrio (roof down) one in an MX5 (roof down) and one in a 70's Camaro. Nutters!

"Manager Bloke" for the nation's largest motoring website and prepared to wait 3 hours for an RAC bloke because a clip had popped of a radiator hose
Cant win in this place these days! Mechanical knowledge isn't on the job description here (thankfully
I had no idea what was wrong, and anyway that's why I pay for the RAC, especially in this weather. Took him an hour to get a non standard hose to fit. I'd have no chance. Perhaps if the hose was actually there I'd have had a chance.
