Christmas Present Deliveries - Delays
Discussion
same boat here. we ordered alot of our presents via the internet thinking we were being organised and now are getting a bit concerned.
apparently, if it was posted out during the 2 week snow chaos then thats where the problems are worst. things after this period are moving through the regular channels in the normal way but feeling the effects of an overstressed system and moving slowly however anything posted during the snowy period was just chucked to one side and formed part of a rather large and ever increasing mountain.
this mountain has been or currently is in the process of being scooped up and taken all over the UK to be processed and re-fed into the system. so a letter posted in edinburgh would be somewhere in a massive pile and when luckily gotten to, stuck in a truck with a load of others and driven to london (or elsewhere) and sorted and then dealt with as though it had just been picked up from a box there.
ive no evidence to back this up but was told this on good authority that this is what is being done to sort the backlog.
if it helps im waiting on a package to come up from england by courier and noone will accept the job. they were scheduled to pickup right when all the snow hit so didnt and now all are saying they wont take anything to scotland due to the weather.

I've had no unexpected problems.
Ordered some kit on Thursday night and picked it up from City Link on Saturday. Royal mail has been a day or so late, but in the scheme of things it is kinda expected. If your Royal Mail delivery has been over 14 days late, I'd be claiming my money back.

Has anyone else had a problem with Christmas deliveries?
Ordered the OH's Christmas Present on the 2nd of December from amazon, and it's still not here yet.
Bricking it? Just a bit!

You guys want to try driving past the Royal Mail depot in Sighthill (the Edinburgh one) around 6pm at the moment. I do this most workday evenings. It's chaos! Lorries and vans (everything from Vauxhall Combis up to full-sized artics) backed out the depot yard and basically causing bedlam. Who knows what it's like inside the building...
