some of you will be aware i was planning on buying a vauxhall astra 150bhp 1.9cdti, after reading too many horror storied ive decided against it
now i still want a nice car and i am thinking of getting a volkswagen golf 2.0tdi as these seem to be very reliable and do not depreciate very much in price? anyones opinions? it seems most owners keep hold of theres for near 5 years as it is
i will be getting it on finance over 5 years, looking at spending 8000 max, putting in about 2000 myself so 6000 on finance

Have a look through a couple of pages there is a indepth topic on Golf tdi's and Audi A3's
link?
Anyway, a 2L golf diesel will be at least 3 years old at that price, and therefore 8 years old once your finance agreement is paid off.
How about a Seat Leon? Same mechanicals, but typically a couple of grand cheaper.

I have never owned a car less than 5 years old, and that is by choice. My current ride is 11 years old in February (we'll be celebrating with a jet wash). I fully expect this car to be with me for another 2-3 years before I change.
Seriously though, look at the sort of cars you can get for £3-4k (so minimal finance), and you will find some true gems that were worth well over £20k from new.

I have a bit of spare income each month, that i save up for a rainy day or a nicer car in a few years. Why would i spend it on a car that in a couple of years will be mine but with daft interest and a lot of dough lost.
Buying cars with cash and not being tied in Ftw
