Hello everyone,

Im new here, just got a Mini Cooper 2004 Convertable.

Very pleased with it just a couple of things.

Reverse is a bit tricky to select sometime with a crunch. The car in july 04, im sooon going to see what gearbox it has by the rear clusters but its too cold out now!

If its the midland one, is it likely to fail at some point? I have a 2 year aftermarket 5 star warranty with a 1k claim limit on it, i know not really worth much but better than nowt.

The parking sensors dont work, one long beepo when first select reverse - anyone know if this will be a warranty item? If not how much to fix?

Alo what MPG do people get? Im getting 30 day to day and bout 37 on longer run.

I have just got rid of the run flats and am very happy with the cost of my new tyres and the ride, not much difference but slightly less bumpy.

I have the sports suspension, chili pack, front fogs AC and CD player.

Its 2004 28k miles 2 owner immaculate, i paid 7k for it with 6mnths tax and 2 yrs warranty and a full service, it has 4 stamps in book now.

Thoughts on the deal? I had to travel half way round the UK for it but im happy :-)

Also its silver EG04RMV From Essex, fairfield BMW - Anyone know the car?

Thanks

Phill

The convertible was launched when the cars were facelifted in 2004 so there are no convertibles with Midland boxes, all Getrag. As an O4 yours must be one of the very first.

My 54 facelift car (tintop) used to be a bugger to get into reverse right from new - there was a recall for an adjustment but it made no difference to reverse - just needed double clutching sometimes to get it in.

This being PH I presume you haven't actually driven it with the roof up yet !! wink

Hi thanks fr the info.

Ha roofless driving in this cold, nope!

So any ideas whats causing the grind in 5th if not midland gearbox? or if there is a cure?

Im fine double clutching or selecting first but if there is a cure out there id be interested to know.
