I was bored at home and decided to sort all the wiring out for the installed audio and visual stuff.

I cannot for the life of me figure out why there are 4 Satalite leads< only one of them has an connector on it. I have been told that if any of my equipment gets unplugged whilst the house alarm is 'Armed' the alarm will be triggered?! as it wired into the main living room control box.

Basically I have a lot of wires and leads, which don't seem to do much?

Speaker wise, they are all concealed in the ceiling. 6 in the living room/kitchen and 2 in every other room, 14 in total. all with seperate input capabilities and able to play from any one room. I also have a box of IR transmitters?

Alls i have done with it all so far is plug the tv into the sky via one the sky dish leads...

The living room box

The silver cable is HDMI from the TV, the rest are Satalite!

???

Inputs/outputs and IR stuff.

Basically what have i got? and what can i do with it?

A fair guess at your 4 Coaxes, 2 are LNB Feeds, 1 Aerial, 1 Aerial return?

Ok, form the photos you have the following.

Audio - Systemline Modular, with active ceiling speakers, It looks like you have 4 main zones and with an additional sub-zone (areas that only play what is playing in a main zone) From the photos I can not tell if you have keypads or a remote that you point at the speakers.

Video - Although your cables look like satellite cables, the connectors are very low rate TV connectors. On all my installs I use F connectors for everything as they give a firm and positive connection. The four feeds could be straight off the dish for two satellite receivers or as has been posted above, could be two satellite feeds, a tv and then a return. But then why would you have a return feed with nowhere else to go.

IR/Connections - The wall plate you can see is an input plate for the audio system as well as IR returns so that the zones can control the local sources.

Alarm - Haven't got a clue why someone would wire suggest and even wire an alarm system that could be triggered by connecting / disconnecting something else.

Home Cinema - No Images of the home cinema system so tough to comment.
