Thanks very much for your comments - most appreciated. Our intention (if we go) is to book Pau hotel, entrance and grandstands with Grandstand Tours, but to do our own thing on the way down and back; although your idea of staying out of town and using Le train sounds like a good one.
Cheers

Great event and a great venue
In 2011 there is the added advantage of the Historic GP and the current F3 championship meetings being held on consecutive weekends. You could, therefore, spend 2 weekends racing with the bit in between exploring the Pyrenees or southern France.
As an alternative to the drive to/from Calais my suggestion (if you have the time) would be to get the overnight ferry to Spain and have 1 or 2 days driving over the Pyrenees then drive back north to one of the channel ports between St Malo & Calais, depending on your preferred timings / landing point in the UK.
Feel free to email me if you need any further info

That's a really great idea! 14/15th May next year...In 2011 there is the added advantage of the Historic GP and the current F3 championship meetings being held on consecutive weekends. You could, therefore, spend 2 weekends racing with the bit in between exploring the Pyrenees or southern France.
