Anyone PMP certified?

I'm currently PRINCE2 certified and would like to add the PMP credential. Any recommendations on how to persue this in my own time and on my own expense?

Thanks Podie. Hard to tell from what little I've read in the past few mins but do you know if MSP is internationally recognised? IME most corporates ask for PMP as PRINCE2 has only really taken off here and Oz.

Also, have you done the MSP exam?

Not done MSP, but it's next on my list.

I came from a 6-Sigma and P2 background. Did a P2 2009 course last year to keep it on the CV. To be honest, most places are interested in how you run projects, rather than outright qualifications (in my experience).

Totally agree with most companies are more interested in experience than qualifications! A potential opportunity has cropped up with a large US corporate so was thinking that adding a PMP credential to the PRINCE2 might have value - more in terms of making the CV stand out?

My previous employer was another US corporate who preferred PMP over PRINCE2 - they ran weekly internal training sessions so I'm very aware of how much time and effort goes into the preparing for the memory test, I mean exam Unfortunately, these sessions were poorly ran and combined with not enough time to dedicate to learning outside of the sessions, it was a complete failure.

Hi,

Hey I’m Prince2 certified too. Like I was bit greedy and wanted both in holster. I’ve recently got certified in PMP from Firebrand Training. It took me 5 days, intense, challenging but well worth it at the end. I tell you now that bootcamp environment is not for the faint hearted. In t erms of cost, for the PMP I’ve paid something about £3,000, not cheap of course but WHAT do you want. That’s the real question. The advantage is that you can do now preparation exams that resemble the real stuff before commencing the actual course(s), thank God for that! Exams:- PMP certification | Prince2 exam

Good info, I'm P2 Practitioner and often wondered if there was a quick way to PMP. As with all certs it helps employers separate the wheat from the chaff. If the job spec says "PMP" and you have Prince2 you will be dropped from the list. There are that many people going for roles that they use these stupid actions to cut through the swathes of applicants. I have had this discussion with a number of recruitment agencies and from personal experience.
