PH Rolling Road Offer
Put off those post-Xmas blues by seeing just how much poke is under your bonnet
A favourite pastime of many a petrolhead is regaling friends, family and colleagues with just how powerful/torquey/downright amazing your pride and joy is.
But while it's all very well quoting your car's supposed vital stats down the local of a Friday night, it's all so much hot air unless you can back them up with some actual figures - especially if you've had yours 'massaged' in some way. Which is where PH comes in.
Courtesy of our friends at Surrey Rolling Road, we're offering PHers a chance to get their motor on the rollers at a PHer-only knock-down price to find out exactly how much power is under that bonnet.
To take advantage of the offer, you'll need to be free on 29th December, and to take along £35 per car. And you never know, Garlick might bring his W124 Mercedes E220 wagon along to 'see what she'll do'...now there's something you won't want to miss...
If you want to pop along, drop an e-mail to charlie@surreyrollingroad.co.uk. There are 25 places available.

What are the typical drivetrain losses on something like a 205 GTi? I'm always very sceptical about these 'derived' flywheel figures. I've seen some dyno's put as much as 90bhp down to drivetrain loses (on a E46 BMW M3) just to get a decent flywheel figure and a smiling face on the customer.

Well you don't need to worry about that with the SRR chaps- they were honest and helpful when I had my Zed done various times. Certainly no unnecessary massaging of egos amongst those of us there :-)Is an Auto transmission car likely to be less accurate on the rollers? This place is not too far from me and it would be nice to have the XJ8 tested.
If it's not any different, I'm in
E-mail being sent to SRR...
Edit: No looks like there is no difference with an Auto so I'm in.

In the image it looks like a two wheel road, for those of you with DSG equipped cars they may not give a full power reading on this setup, unless the rolling road is a four wheel version then some models of VAG cars with DSG boxes go into limp home mode. Mines a 2010 octavia CR DSG vRS. This is because the control systems are linked to the abs systems and all the wheels need to be rotating for it to function properly.

Amazingly, the front set of rollers in the pic actually work, making it a 4wd Rolling Road
