They say he earns £286k a week after tax, Whatever they have offered him it certainly seems to have cured his homesickness

I dont understand how City plan to abide by these new rules coming in about only spending what you earn?

Am I missing some sub-clause that City are gona use to get around it?

£286k a week after tax??? That's obscene, that's more than the majority will earn a year

That's probably a figure the papers have made up, i doubt very much if he gets that amount.

I would really be surprised if he earns less than toure ? I believe it was Rodney Marsh whom leaked this crazy sum if Rooney's getting £250 K a week this figure would seem believable

I think the his dodgy "agent" (who isn't technically his agent as he's not allowed to be) takes a pretty big chunk off that as he used to own Tevez. Still a huge sum.

Be very interesting to see exactly how meaningful these UEFA rules are....certainly City were supposed to be struggling to meet the new standards but that doesn't seem to be bothering them too much.

New rules not in effect yet hence buying lots of players that will be fringe players or go on loan these can then be sold in transfer windows to increase income against expenditure.

Starts in 2011 according to this article

It's an issue for Chelski too I would think...they lost £45mil last year which is why they've got rid of so many experienced players. Trouble is to grow revenues the only major option they have is a new stadium which is obviously a £300 or £400mil cost....and they need to replace the likes of Drogba, Lampard and Terry in the next two or three years. It's quite amusing that Abramovich has spent £700mil which has only bought a couple of league titles....he's probably looking at spending another £500mil just so they can break even...then he might have a legacy....at the moment Chelsea aren't worth much more than Liverpool were.

I think the new rules will bring problems for all the big clubs. Building bigger stadiums etc is ok but you still have to fill them! I think that the only club that will come out of this ok will be Arsenal.

The big clubs will just find different ways of moving the money around.
