Gutted.

Following advice from on here, I bought a new S20 42" plasma a couple of months ago. Loved it, until last night.

Suddenly, a black strip appeared, about 3"-4" across, from top to bottom, slight right of centre. It looks like completely dead pixels in that area.

I bought it from Amazon so I will have to get in touch with them.

Listen no-one on here wants to read about issues with Panasonics ok.... they get recommended ALL the time! take this somewhere else!

NB. Hope Amazon sort it out for you, nothing mroe annoying than losing faith in a shiny/expensive/quality TV...

My parents Panasonic failed after buying it from Amazon. At first they tried to get them to deal with Panasonic customer support who, predictably, bounced them back to Amazon. If this happens to you then just be firm with Amazon that it is the final seller who has responsibility with regards to warranty claims.

Touch wood they will be fine with you but just thought I'd let you know. Once they agreed to exchange, Amazon were great and sorted it out really quickly.

Well, I spoke to Amazon. They listened to me and then said as they do not sell this TV any more (sell it direct from them, not a 3rd party supplier) they said to send it back to them for a full refund. Can't say fairer than that.

(They sent me an email with clickly links and DHLs phone number on it to arrange collection).

Right, now back to square one: what 42" plasma to buy biggrin

Here is the fault:

and interestingly, a review on Amazon for this very telly:

someone said:
<snip>One month later sound started breaking up, then picture developed a vertical 100mm wide, black stripe.</snip>
http://www.amazon.co.uk/product-reviews/B0039SLYH8/ref=cm_cr_pr_hist_2?ie=UTF8&showViewpoints=0&filterBy=addTwoStar

I too had picture breakup for a couple of days before the strip appeared (couldn't say what was happening with the sound as it comes direct from the Sky box).

Just pretend you are watching it in a prison cell through the bars. Now enjoy the Shawshank Redemption.

The PDP has gone, when Panasonic go faulty it's a very common issue.
