Well just had an infuriating call with the most unhelpful girl from a certain insurance company that is listed as a ford specialist and 'Insuring a Focus RS for 375quid' who want over 400 for a Focus ST.

I've dealt with them before and they've been so good, but she made my blood boil!

Asked why the premium was so high and she just kept saying 'well it's your circumstances'. Sheila's wheels and e-sure were both cheaper and I can insure a BMW645 and a TVR Griffith for sensible money, and they advertise insuring an RS for 375 for a 35yr old professional, so why is my premium so high? she just kept saying my circumstances...well what *&*&*&*Y circumstances make it so high? I said "I;m sorry but i donl;t think your being very helpful, I;m just asking what aspect of my circumstances are making the premium so high"..."OK, sorry I'll go and find out...oh, yes, it's your circumstances"

FFS. Some people really need training in customer services!

/Rant over

Amny one got any good suggestions for insuring a Focus ST 'in my circumstances' ? :-)

Wish I could get my ST insured for anything like £400! I managed to stop the annual increase this year by moving both mine and my Wife's car to Admiral Multicar. There seems to be quite a hefty discount if you've got more than one car to insure. The downside is that everything ends up renewing on the same date, which might be an issue depending on your financial circs.

Same here, got quoted £1601 cheapest from Go Compare on one when I was looking to buy. Looking at over £3k for an RS300. £400 for an ST is a steal. I pay more than that for my boggo 1.8 (I'm 27 with 6 years NCB and no prev claims/convictions).

How much is your's then if you don't mind me asking? 20grand 330hp BMW for just over 500 and a TVR for less than 300...I'd have thought my circumstances were ripe for a low 300 quote for the ford...

Did wonder about a cover all policy as I've got the BMW coming up for renewal in Jan or Feb...and the TVR at some point. I was advised though that as there's such a broad range of cars, it might not pay off.

Is an ST really that much of a performance car?

38 and wife 34. Both professionals in low risk jobs. Two sets of full NCB. No accidents, claims, convications. No commuting. Limited to 5000 miles a year. Cars on drive. not a bad area. Been driving performance cars for years. Just doesn't seem right...

What really made me laugh yesterday was that a quote was 53quid more to have the car in wife's name and me as a named driver than in my name with wife as a named driver...with Sheila's Wheels!!!

This year it's just under £600 which is the cheapest I've had in the four years I've owned it. My problem is I have no off road parking and have an OL postcode. Most of the specialist performance car insurers wont even quote so I'm stuck with the familiar brand names.

Greenlight - quite expensive for me, but thanks.

Admiral currently the winners! Cheapest by far on a multi car Policy. Basically the same price this year for the ST, Griffith and 645i as I paid last year for the BMW and the TVR!!

So buy two get one free!

Top shout!

My previous family wagon was with Direct Line ,so just wanted to roll the insurance over until the end of its term. They wanted £700 excess as 'it is that type of car' LOL. I promptly told them to get stuffed and got insurance at a neighbours recommended place ( he's a broker) and was £500 ish for 40 somethings in a good area limited to 7k miles with mods and high performance history. So glad to get away from D/L, useless..................

Picked the car up tonight. Forgot what a nippy front drive car was like. Good fun. Handles well and goes pretty well too.

I'm with Ford Insure on the RS & pay £345, am 39, unlimited mileage, mid risk area. Only downside is they wont touch any mods, pretty happy with the premium, next closest was £150 more. biggrin

frown

I should be quite happy in some senses that I've got mine down to just under £900 this year (from @ £970) as I was expecting well over a bag of sand. Second half of 30s, long time IAM member and at least a dozen years of NCB.

Lucky bd youngsters smile

Damn you postcode mad
