£150 best camera for great pics and vids

Hi guys, im after a half decent camera to take to afghanistan.

It needs to be small enough to lug around, but still take great pics and good quality videos.

I have around £150 to spend and with the sales coming up i hopefully will get something good.
I currently have a Samsung L83t (8.2 MP) and the vid quality is pants. I dont know much about cameras so please help me and recommend a good camera.

Under £100, decent video, takes great photos. Can't see the extra £50 buying you anything significantly better...

I would recommend a Panasonic TZ8; it can be had for around £150 on line and does HD video and has a 12x optical zoom.
