G'day Everyone,
Thanks for allowing me onto Piston Heads. My problem is that occasionally, without any warning, the windscreen wipers simply stop working (i'm forever checking to see if they are, even when its not raining!!). In addition to this the main beam of the headlights also fail. I dont have enough electrical knowledge to know if this is a related problem or if they completely stand alone. One possibly relevant fact is that the car was standing idle in an auction house for over a month and had to be jump started with a booster pack quite a few times. They finally purchased a new battery the day before i picked the car up. Has anyone had a similar experience or any solutions?
thanks for your time

Hi Jason, welcome to PH.

To be honest, it is something that an auto electrician could check and fix quite easily, but could be tricky for you.

Wiper problems are often to do with the relays used in the system, but if main beam suffers as well, maybe you have a short in the system somewhere. First call would be the relay/fuse box under the bonnet IIRC on a 944S2. You could also take the steering wheel off and look at the wiper stalk connections. But if it's a problem with the wiring loom shorting out it could be difficult to see - and potentially dangerous if left unchecked.

Book your car in at a garage would be my advice.

Cheers
