Hmmm, £600?

Better off with the 1:18 AutoArt version at a fraction of the cost IMO.

Don't know what scale that is but the dashboard is pretty clumsy, look at the size of the instrument bezels!

Crikey, so on the basis that the bezels are 1/4" on the real dash they should be about 1/32" on the model so some fine fuse wire would do thr trick, that's dreadful. I assumed it was 1:32 or something...

The whole thing is totally unforgivable.

For £600 I want real wire wheels, not plastic things.

I'd want an engine that looks something like the real thing.

I'd want an interior that looked...oh dear I'm getting upset again, I'm going to bed.

These partworks where you get a few bits each week and build the thing over two years or whatever are ALWAYS ste - steer well clear would be my advice. They are simply not aimed at real modellers.

£600? What kind of mouthbreather is going to spunk 2 weeks wages on this blob of smegma? I despair. This is worse than those godawful plates with kittens or some ste on them. Definitely worthy of the Wing'd Horse of Chav Tat award.

Saw this advertised on the TV the other day and worked out how much it would cost. I'm sure I could buy a ready assembled better version for a lot less then this will cost after buying all the magazines.

Every year we get the same thing......

Then in 6 months time Watchdog will do a feature on how; the parts were missing, the magazine went bust, Parts did not fit properly, etc...

the advert on tv says the thing weighs in at 20lbs & is 1/8th scale. looks good on the tv but in reality is it a good idea?

not sure so might buy the first couple of issues to see what the quality is like. was it 80 issues @ £6.99 each time?

seems a touch expensive to me however are there any other models of this size on the market?

There have been loads of these sorts of things over the years, railway engines, cars, ships and so on, and I've yet to see one that has been completed.

Not sure if that's because of the cost, or because the magazines dry up before completion due ot lack of demand.

It's mainly only a couple of companies that do them.

http://www.deagostini.co.uk/about_us

Is one of the biggest, and they've been at it over 50 years.

1 issue at £1-99 and then 84 at £6-99. A grand total of £589-15.

Nearly £600 would buy a decent amount of good quality genuine AM DB5 autojumble!

Whole load of stuff here http://www.007db5.com/ if you click on instructions at the bottom it says, "You will never need anything more sophisticated than a screwdriver and most components simply click together." biggrin So, not a lot of modelling skills required there then!

You could get 4 or 5 AUTOart 1:18 DB5's for that price!

They would be a lot better quality too. Partsworks are st. Only half decent one was the 1:43 scale rally car series and they were very cheaply made by Ixo.
