Get up to go to work this morning and spot that the snow has slightly melted meaning a rise in temp, great i think. So I get outside and (remembering that Assumption is the mother of all fkups.) I jump out on to the drive and up to the car slipping as I get there and jamming my foot and lower leg under it, bending my ankle backwards.

Upshot is a broken ankle (the last 25mm of the Fibula has snapped off) and torn ligaments.

SWMBO, is fking fuming, I guess that because of all the driving she'll be doing.

Happy fking Christmas.

It's properly throbbing now.

Feel a little light headed and sick but other than that all's tickety boo.

Oh and had to come into work, to sort out work for the down time over Christmas.

Bad news mate. It's an absolute stter. Broke my big toe back in April and it was a complete pain. Couldn't walk, drive, carry anything due to crutches, etc. Made me feel proper helpless...

Broken bones tend to take 6 weeks to heal for a simple fracture. Best thing you can do his rest it.

I feel your pain, I really do.
I've only been back home from hospital with a plastered foot and crutches for 3 hours and I'm bored to buggery already.

It's going to be a long 6 weeks....

Good luck and Merry Christmas smile

Did a similar thing 4 weeks ago, falling down the stairs. Complete pain in the ar5e.
Hope you make a quick recovery. Mine stopped hurting after about a fortnight, still getting the occasional pain now. Can't wait to get the plaster off !

Back in 2001 having just returned from three weeks skiing I jumped over a very small garden wall, slipped and caught my right foot breaking the ankle to bits. Four months in plaster and now have pins holding it all together. I might have had a drink at the time.

Good luck with it mate, get well soon.

Broke my ankle in the summer there, was off work for 13 weeks. Done physio and exercises and its still fking sore. Still limping if i walk any distance and walking in the ice makes it worse(uneven surface). Also ankle still swollen, beginning to wonder if its not healed correctly!

Ouch I broke the bottom off my Fibula playing cricket...I was lucky though as I didn't do any tendon/ligament damage which is apparently mroe painful than the break. Good luck with it...crutches are an almighty pain in the arse.

How's your ankle coming along ?

I was hoping my plaster would come off today, or that they would put a different one on so I could start putting some weight on it, but no, another 3 weeks like this.

I want to get back in my TVR weeping

Ouch!

Broke mine (both Tib and Fib) nearly 3 years ago now - had various pins inserted, plaster for 6 weeks, crutches for 3 months and 18 months of physio. Then had the metal work removed last month as it was never 100%, and one of the pins had come loose and was digging into the Tibia, so currently limping around with more physio to look forward to in the new year!
