'92 4.3 Griff needs a big service, all the fluids and some other mechanical work, probably requiring gearbox removal. Any views / opinions on the above? I know they're both highly recommended, but who would you go to?

Neither, if you're in the Midlands area, I'd try TVRPower or Dave Porter at Porter Motorsport. He's just rebuilt my 500 engine and most of the Warwickshire TVR guys use him for all their work and a few others on here.
Email my profile if you want his number.

thirded if there is such a thing?

Richard, Neil and Seb are top blokes who have always endured to get the result, only trouble since becoming main agent (and top main agent of 2003 I bebeive)is they seem to be haveing their resources stretched, but they're still the same guys with the same genuine enthusiasm as we have.

Sorry for the plug, but due to the amount of s**te garages out there I feel comelled to inform of good service, people seem to be only to ready to report negativity these days.

Make that a fiver - although I've spent a tad more than that with them!! They've done all the non body upgrades on my car and are great people to do business with.

Yikes - this is a bit overwhelming...

Bristol area, thanks wixer, an hour or so to travel is my aim.

Looks like Peninsula it is then - I just wish they'd answer my email... (19 days and counting...)

They're always really helpful on the phone however busy they are.... always willing to spend the time, and never make you feel hurried. Same if you're there in person. ....but e-mail.... not always the quickest method, but there again, I'm the same. If it's urgent and you need an answer, you'll phone me... if you can wait until I have more time, you'll mail me. Thing is, I don't think they don't get the time!

Reminds me of last summer when in 5 seperate phonecalls from a French service station south of Paris, Richard talked me through the dismantling of my dashboard and removal of my failing and wailing alarm. Oh .. and it was his day off too!

They've managed to get me into a mind set where I actually feel guilty for thinking about taking it anywhere else!

Yeah I know I know - I just have a thing about email. If you provide an address, for goodness sake USE IT! It's my first 'test'!

But back to the real world, I shall give them a call now.

No probs with the phone though - all booked in and very helpful. What a relief it is to speak to someone who knows what they're talking about and can string a sentence together. Signs good so far - thanks for the opinions.

too late i see, but Peninsula gets my vote too!

can't say anything about anyone else as the cars never had to go anywhere else (except Mark Adams ofcourse!)

and by the way, i mentioned the e-mail thing to Rich a month or two ago,

he showed me his PC

500+ e-mails in 2 DAYS!!!!!!!

you WILL get lost in there!

another + is they are VERY well connected!
being excellent independants they had / have strong links to the likes of (in no particular order)

Mark Adams
V8 Developments
Act
Strebber
joospeed
etc etc

and now the Factory! (they were well connected unoffically anyway!)

what more could you ask?

a satisfied customer (who's spent FAR to much there )

Tiny - I think your car is in Peninsula each time I go there (well, ok twice !) - each time resulting in my drooling over your wheels/brakes..............etc etc etc etc etc - LOL !!- Swill

Got to be Peninsula over David Gerald every time.

Cheaper and more courteous. Don't get me started on the time my mate and I went to David Gerald with £18k burning a hole in his pocket to buy a Chimera. How rude! Never going again.

Feel exactly the same as Veg on this one! My recommendation is:
Horizon Motorsport in Cradley Heath Birmingham. Tel 01384 566660.
Unlike the Inkberrow lot he sees a customer as the reason for being employed and not an interruption of their work
