Christmas on benefits
Discussion
So in reality she's bringing up 4 kids - buying food clothes, paying utility bills etc etc for £1K/mth. I wouldn't fancy doing that.
I think she's wrong that she'd have to earn £30K/yr if she worked - if she earned less she'd still get many of the benefits she's getting now, but then she'd have to pay for child care, travel and so on.
Not sure what the answer is in these circumstances - take the kids off her and give them to rich people, perhaps?

Sorry but there is not a chance on Earth any rational tax payer thinks this kind of situation is reasonable! This is actually one of the starkest examples yet I can think of around the thread I started the other day to do with paying benefits as vouchers for food and not just giving out cash like candy!!
‘I don’t want to have to say to the kids, “You can’t have that”. It’s not fair and I’m not going to do it. There are people out there who are earning money and getting benefits, and they’re the ones we should be having a go at.’
unbeleivable people that work and get a little extra help are the problem
at least they pay tax and get a little back.

She mentions doing the best by her kids. True enough, the money is there and she is grabbing it with both hands.
Don't hate the player, hate the game
I think is partly how I feel. Don't hate the player, hate the game

I can't help but think it is stupid how much money she can receive from the state which appears to be for having children....

Reduce the child benefit. She's getting far too much if she can put away enough to afford Macs and Xboxes on me.The sad part to me was that she's borrowing to buy the presents, so the repayments must be made from her benefits. I wonder if this is crap, and someone is bunging her money and she doesn't want to admit it in case it affects her benefits?
